Why isn eraser working in illustrator

Adobe illustrator is pretty dynamic application software. Its eraser tool helps designers to remove parts of their art or design to correct their mistakes and perfect their art or design. If you want to delete an entire type of object, then you should select that object with help of the selection tool then you just have to press the delete button.

Or if you want to remove an individual character from the type object, then you should use the type tool to select individual characters and delete them one by one. Not good. Windows or other versions can look different. Not a Photoshop user? You can use the Pen Tool to select the area that you want to keep and then create a clipping mask to remove the unwanted area. It works fine for removing image background, but if you want to keep multiple objects on the image, it can get complicated.

Quick example. I want to erase that half apple and keep the rest. The next step is to make a clipping mask. If you have a simple background like this, simply create a rectangle for the background and use the eyedropper tool to select the same color for the background.
